Horatio Alger Association – Alumnus of the Year 2018

Donna Neeman (Nebraska Scholar ’04)

The Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans, Inc., is pleased to announce that Donna Neeman has been selected as the 2018 Alumnus of the Year. Donna the Association Field Director for the state of Nebraska and will serve on the National Scholars Conference volunteer staff this spring.  Additionally, Donna recently accepted a volunteer position as the Region 2 Coordinator to drive attendance at the 2018 Alumni Summit.  Donna is also the first State Scholar to receive the Alumnus of the Year award. The Association is grateful to Donna for all of her tremendous work and we look forward to highlighting her good efforts throughout the year to come.


Professional Biography of Donna Neeman

I am currently the Director of TRIO Student Support Services at Northeast Community College in Norfolk, NE. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from Peru State College and am currently enrolled in the Master of Science in Education program with a focus on Higher Education Student Affairs at Fort Hays State University online.

Within my work institution, I’m involved with: Northeast Community College CARE Team, Emergency Management and Crisis Response Team, TRIO Club Advisor, Hawks United Diversity Club Advisor, and Avenue Scholars Development Team.

Within my community, I’m involved with: Kiwanis Emerging Leaders as the secretary, Norfolk Mayor’s Diversity Council, Norfolk City Planning Commission, Youth Philanthropy Council volunteer, and I was able to develop a scholarship for local high school seniors whom attend Northeast Community College.

I was appointed the Nebraska Field Director within the Horatio Alger Association in 2017. I have been selected as a Team Leader for the 2018 HAA National Scholars Conference, and was nominated and accepted the position as the Region 2 Coordinator for the HAA Alumni Summit in October of 2018.
